Concept mapping ICT’s

EDC3100 states ‘The Big Three’ reasons as to why “an increasing number of countries include ICT in the curricula of initial teacher training” (p. 105). The BIG three are:

  1. ICT can help prepare the next generation for the future workplace
  2. ICT can make schools more efficient and productive; and aremeant to make any number of tasks more efficient and productive.
  3. ICT can reform and innovate learning and teaching by enhancing and transforming learning and teaching.

Although at times technology can be confusing and frustrating it is vital that these preconceptions are changed for our students as it is not only important for us as future teachers to be competent with ICT for our class but it is also included in The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). It aims to “make explicit the elements of high quality teaching” to ensure students become autonomous and self-regualted in their learning and understanding of curricula materials. Jess’ Blog also provides useful resources for us as we go out onto prac and in our future careers as educators.
